On Saturday, Nov. 21, the World of Music and Arts in Richmond is hosting a concert for one of the city’s homegrown stars.
Pius Cheung, considered one of the world's top marimba performers, as well as being an educator and composer, will be in concert at the World of Music and Arts on London Road in Steveston.
Pius immigrated from China to Vancouver when he was 12 and settled in Richmond with his family. He studied piano and percussion privately and at the University of B.C., before pursuing marimba in the States.

In addition, he has presented solo recitals at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress in Washington DC and at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York.
His program on Saturday, which begins at 7 p.m., will include Bach, Piazzolla and Cheung. Tickets are only $20 ($15 for students and seniors) and are available at www.worldofmusicandarts.com or by calling 604-809-5730.
