In the category of Small Business of the Year, Potts Education Studio emerged as a shining example of success due to its outstanding business model and financial resilience, which have positioned the company for long-term success and growth.
It was 2008 when Phil Potts rented a small classroom to tutor English and became a sole proprietor for four lonely years.
In 2012, Phil hired his first employee and soon incorporated Potts Education Studio.
In 2014, a teachers' strike drove more business.
After many years of educating thousands upon thousands of students, the current results speak for themselves: over $1 million in annual revenue; a team of long-term, successful employees; survival of the pandemic; an education planning department with success in getting students into the very top universities both in Canada, the U.S. and other countries; and proudly owning three commercial units boasting 4,200 square feet of space, finally being able to leave rentals behind.
Taking on a significant loan to purchase a commercial property at the end of 2019, Phil faced the daunting challenge of adapting to the pandemic just months later.
The business overcame these hurdles successfully, demonstrating remarkable adaptability and financial resilience.
Potts Education Studio see graduates come back to visit all the time - and they all say the same thing: the most important thing they learned at the studio was how to be good, hardworking people.
