A Japanese convenience store in Steveston has closed down, less than a year after opening.

Ryoshi Market opened last December on Bayview Street, near Third Avenue, but has “temporarily closed,” according to an Internet search on the business.

However, the Richmond News understands that a new Japanese convenience store, Daruma, will be opening up soon in its place.

Daruma already has a store in Richmond in the Capstan area, as well as one in Vancouver.

According to its Instagram page, Ryoshi sold all kinds of Japanese products, including drinks, candy, snacks, sauces, soups and stew mixes.
