A Richmond-based vitamin and supplement gummy company has had its Health Canada licence recently reinstated.

Health Canada suspended Herbaland’s licence last year due to regulatory issues.

In a statement to the Richmond News last year, Health Canada confirmed Herbaland's product licences were suspended and site licence cancelled on March 28, 2024 because the company "was unable to meet the regulatory requirements of the Natural Health Products Regulations."

A selection of Herbaland's gummy products was also placed on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) import Red List.

Herbaland co-founder Aisha Yang told the News last year that a private customer had ordered products from Herbaland with their own ingredient list and when the FDA inspected it under a microscope, botanical ingredients were found in it.

Yang told the News this week they are “incredibly proud to be a Canada business,” exporting to more than 45 countries worldwide.

“Our journey has been filled with hard work, resilience and a deep commitment to sustaining local jobs and contributing to the Canadian economy,” Yang said in an email.

Yang said she’s just back from the Arab Health trade show. Herbaland will be expanding into new markets abroad including in Oman, Pakistan, Lebanon, Moldova and Thailand.

Herbaland products can be found in more than 2,500 retail shops across Canada.
