Richmond dealership invites pets to pose with Santa for charity

The event at OpenRoad Acura Richmond will be held on Dec. 10 and donations will benefit RAPS.

Pet owners of Richmond can bring their furry friends to meet Santa in support of charity starting this weekend.

Club OpenRoad is holding its annual pet photo fundraiser at OpenRoad Acura Richmond on Dec. 10 and all pets are invited to pose for a portrait with Santa.

For a donation of $20, participants will get both a digital and printed copy of the pet portrait. And with a $40 donation, pets can nab a special souvenir bandana as well.

All kinds of pets, including dogs, cats, lizards and hamsters are invited to participate, and a calm environment will be provided, said Håkan Williams, Club OpenRoad manager.

Representatives from RAPS will also be present to speak with participants and photos will be taken by professional pet photographer Katherine Gonzalez from Vancouver Pet Photography.

"Our Pet Photos with Santa campaign is one of our most popular during the holiday season, especially because pets aren’t often permitted to visit malls to see Santa,” Williams added.

The event is held in collaboration with OpenRoad Foundation, which will be donating $5,000 to RAPS in addition to funds raised during the event.

Since 2019, the campaign has raised more than $22,500 in support of local animal rescues.

The fundraiser is being held in four different dealerships across the Lower Mainland throughout December, with the other three being MINI Langley, OpenRoad VW Burnaby and OpenRoad Honda Burnaby. Funds raised at the other locations will benefit The Happy Herd, VOKRA and PADS.

Pet Photos with Santa at OpenRoad Acura Richmond will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10. Bookings can be made online and are first-come, first-served. Drop-ins are available.
