Save-On-Foods is finally opening in Steveston Village after their announcement in April of last year.
The 20,000 square feet store will officially open for business at 7 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 with grand opening celebrations taking place all weekend on Third Avenue.
Shoppers will find promotions, food sampling, prizes and family fun at the new store, on the site of the old Rod’s Lumber Supplies.
Darrell Jones, president of Save-On-Foods, will be giving out free gift cards to the first 500 customers in line on Friday morning. Each gift card is loaded with a minimum of $10 and two will be worth $500.
And on Saturday, Nov. 23, the first 500 customers entering the store will receive a free Save-On-Foods Kitchen pizza.
"Steveston village and Save-On-Foods both share over 100 years of rich history in British Columbia and we are absolutely thrilled to become a part of this local, historic fisherman's community," said Jones in a media release.
"We've got an amazing team here at Save-On-Foods Steveston committed to going the extra mile for ourcustomers in this ery special and unique community while also offering the same fresh programs that we know our customers love."
According to Save-on Foods, items such as sushi and wings, an in-store pharmacy and online shopping pickup will be available in the store.
The Steveston store will be the third Save-On-Foods in Richmond with others at Terra Nova and Ironwood.
The store is on the ground floor of a three-storey, 32-condo building called The Roderick and has 50 parking spaces built below.
It will provide an alternative to the family-owned and operated Super Grocer, which has been a staple for decades in Steveston.
