100 new COVID-19 cases in Richmond in past week

Vaccination clinics are being set up in three locations in Richmond.

There were 100 new cases of COVID-19 found in Richmond over the past week (March 5 to 11), just slightly down from last week, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).

The number of cases in Richmond has been rising over the past month – last week there were 107 new cases whereas just a few weeks prior, this weekly number was just 33.

BCCDC released its latest numbers late Friday, and data shows Richmond’s daily COVID-19 cases are between five and 10 per 100,000 population. (For comparison, Fraser South has had more than 15 daily cases per 100,000 population in the past week.)

Vaccination clinics are being set up in three locations in Richmond: River Rock Casino, Jackson Lam Adult Day Care (Austin Harris) and East Richmond Community Hall (just west of Cambie secondary).

Those aged 85 and older (born in 1936 or earlier) can now call to book an appointment.

Starting March 22, those born in 1941 or earlier can book vaccine appointments.

Health officials are asking anyone not eligible to refrain from calling.
