As of Tuesday, there were 18 COVID-19 patients at Richmond Hospital with seven in the intensive care unit (ICU).
The ICU was at 95-per-cent bed capacity, while the entire hospital was at 97 per cent bed capacity.
According to Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), 10 patients were in the COVID-19 unit, one in emergency and seven in the ICU.
The number of COVID-19 cases detected in Richmond has been rising over the past several weeks, with a slight dip last week to 210 new cases, down from a high of 272 the week before, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control.
A VCH spokesperson said, however, it’s still safe to access hospital and health-care services and urged anyone needing medical care not to delay seeking it.
The hospital follows safety standards set by infection control, public health and the provincial medical officer, the spokesperson elaborated.
