A giant tree was uprooted and came crashing down in one of Richmond's complexes.

A giant tree was uprooted on Monday and came crashing down across a road close to South Arm Community Park in Richmond after heavy rains wreaked havoc in the Lower Mainland and across the province.

The Richmond News earlier reported on widespread flooding from what meteorologists are calling an “atmospheric river” caused the complete closures of some major roads in the city, for example, at Gilbert Avenue and Blundell Road.

More recently, a photo of the giant tree that fell on Ash Street and Williams Road was posted on the Community of Richmond Facebook group.

As seen in the picture, the tree appears to be large enough to block the road.

According to City of Richmond spokesperson Clay Adams, the tree has now been cleaned up and the road has been cleared.
