Aberdeen Centre exhibit teaches about severe weather

Free interactive exhibit with giant screens and simulations of extreme weather conditions.

Richmond's Aberdeen Centre is hosting an interactive exhibit to teach kids and families about how severe weather impacts the world.

The exhibit titled "Wild Weather" aims to show how severe weather conditions can cause damage to communities and better prepare for future climate changes.

The exhibition is presented by Aberdeen in collaboration with Science North and Ontario Science Centre.

Aberdeen's atrium (water fountain area) has been divided into themed areas where visitors can experience what it is like to fly through a hurricane, witness the destruction of tornadoes, study the force of wind and more through interactive screens and simulations.

"We want to public and kids from a young ages to realize and notice climate change," said Tiffany Ho, senior vice-president and senior general manager of Fairchild Developments, which operates the mall.

"Severe weather is a powerful and unpredictable force that causes great damage to communities, infrastructure, and lives."

The exhibition will be on display until Sept. 18.
