As of Friday evening, the Alex Fraser Bridge has remained closed with no estimated time for reopening. DriveBC is expected to provide the next update at 10 p.m.
According to an update from DriveBC, the Alex Fraser Bridge is closed due to winter conditions.
A traffic advisory was later issued by the B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, explaining that ice has started to accumulate on bridge cables and there is a risk of ice falling onto vehicles.
The bridge will be closed until "conditions improve with warming weather," with no time estimate available at the moment.
In the meantime, motorists are asked to follow detour routes.
