A Canada Post was also in Steveston's Super Grocer & Pharmacy that was destroyed by a fire last week.

Community members who were expecting to get their mail from the post office in Steveston's Super Grocer & Pharmacy may have to plan for the worst.

In a response to Richmond News' inquiry, Canada Post confirmed the post office inside the grocery store was also consumed by last Friday's fire.

"While the investigation continues and we assess the situation, it is believed that all mail, parcels and postal products were lost," said Phil Legault, Canada Post media relations spokesperson.

Customers who were expecting to pick up their mail at the Super Grocer can contact Canada Post's customer service at 1-800-267-2797 for more information.

Those who believe their parcels were lost to the fire will have to go through Canada Post's claims process, while those who lost their letter mail will have to contact the sender.

Letter mail pick-ups are being redirected to the Steveston Museum postal outlet at 3811 Moncton Street and customers can pick up their mail by showing a government-issued photo ID. The Steveston Museum post office is open Monday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

For parcel pick-ups, customers will be sent to other postal outlets in the area and they are asked to check the address in their parcel pick-up ticket.

For further questions about postal services in the area, community members can contact customer service at canadapost.ca/support or call 1-866-607-6301 (TTY/teletypewriter: 1-800-267-2797).

Meanwhile, No. 1 Road between Chatham and Moncton roads is still closed as demolition begins for the remaining structure.
