A 35-year-old man is in hospital in serious condition after yet another pedestrian accident on Friday night.

The man underwent surgery after being struck by a car near No. 1 and Blundell roads.

The collision happened around 11 p.m. and Richmond RCMP’s Cpl. Stephanie Ashton said the area was shut down while investigators tried to get to the bottom of what happened.

At this point, added Ashton, there is no indication speed was a factor in the crash.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and was cooperating with police investigators.

Anyone who witnessed the crash should contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212.

An elderly pedestrian died last week after being hit by a car, bringing Richmond’s death toll on the roads to nine for 2013.
