BC Ferries is adding more sailings on two routes connecting Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island in preparation for a busy travel period over the Easter long weekend.

From March 29 to April 3 BC Ferries will add 62 sailings to the Tsawassen – Swartz Bay route and 12 sailings between Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay. Another six sailings have also been added to the Horseshoe Bay – Langdale route.

BC Ferries expects that the busiest times will be mid-day on Thursday, March 29 to late in the morning on Friday, March 30 with most travellers returning home in the afternoon on Monday, April 2.

“A reservation is always a good idea if they’re traveling on a major route and I would also suggest to give yourself some extra time even if you’re traveling as a foot passenger,” said Deborah Marshall, the company’s executive director of public affairs.

The company has posted a calendar on its website that shows which sailings are expected to be busier than others.
