BC United Richmond candidate rakes in 20% of contributions in first quarter

One Richmond candidate received almost 20 per cent of political contributions transferred from BC United in the first quarter of 2024.

According to the interim financial reports published by Elections BC, Wendy Yuan raked in $10,852.50 from January through April, making her the BC United candidate for Richmond receiving the most contributions.

BC United transferred a total of $57,106.93 to more than 20 candidates, according to the party's filed report.

Yuan was named BC United's candidate for the Richmond Centre riding last summer and will be running against BC NDP MLA Henry Yao in the upcoming provincial election.

Jackie Lee, BC United's candidate for Richmond-Steveston, received $1,572.33 while Teresa Wat, BC United MLA for Richmond-North Centre (now renamed Richmond-Bridgeport), got $250.
