Body of missing elderly man found

The body of an elderly Ladner man who went missing Saturday was found Monday afternoon by a police helicopter.

The body of an elderly Ladner man who went missing Saturday was found Monday afternoon by a police helicopter.

The search for 87-year-old Edward Lysyk, who had recently moved from Richmond, came to an end after his body was found in a Ladner field not far from where he was last seen.

"At this time, Delta police do not believe that foul play is involved in this investigation," said Delta police Const. Ciaran Feenan.

Police and the B.C. Coroners Service are currently investigating to determine the cause of death. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. Lysyk was reported missing from a local care home on Saturday.

He was last seen at around 3 a.m. that day after being returned to his room for the night. Officers searched throughout the night and into Sunday morning.
