A west Richmond resident found a smouldering campfire in Terra Nova Rural Park early Saturday.
Gurdial Dale Badh found the remnants of the fire on Saturday morning and poured water on it to put it out, but he noted this is something that happens every summer.
"This is only a few hundred feet away from the Terra Nova Rural Park and subdivision and it's very concerning for all the owners living in the area," Badh told the Richmond News in an email.
Badh is calling on the city to monitor the area to prevent more campfires in the area.
He noted the brush is "all dried up" due to the heat wave and it would be "devastating if the fire was to spread to the park and subdivision."
Richmond RCMP recently warned people to make sure they extinguish cigarettes after a brush fire near Richmond Centre was most likely started by a smouldering butt.
