A Richmond driver will not be able to drive for the next 90 days after an incident on Friday evening in Steveston.
Richmond RCMP responded to a call that a man was "slumped over the steering wheel" of a car that was idling near Bayview Street and No. 1 Road in Steveston around 11 p.m. on Jan. 6.
The 48-year-old man was given a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impoundment after police conducted an impaired driving investigation, according to Cpl. Dennis Hwang, communications officer for the Richmond RCMP.
This means the driver cannot drive for 90 days and his vehicle is also impounded for 30 days.
“We are thankful that we have a connected and conscientious community," said Hwang.
"The call to us likely saved innocent lives as that driver was in no condition to be going anywhere, especially not in a vehicle."
