Cars spotted in Richmond bike lanes

Dedicated cycling lanes on Granville Avenue and Horseshoe Way had more than bikes on them this past Friday.

Three different incidents of cars parked in bike lanes were caught in photos in just one day in Richmond.

Olympic race-walker Evan Dunfee took two of the the photos on Granville Avenue and one on Horseshoe Way on Friday.

Richmond bylaws prohibit parking in spaces marked by city engineering for other purposes and fines can range from $35 to $135.

The five cars parked on Horseshoe Way were in a construction zone, but Dunfee told the Richmond News there were no temporary signs for traffic or parking changes.

Richmond bylaws prohibit parking in areas where there’s a “traffic control device” which includes lines and barriers installed by city engineering.
