A Richmond martial arts school is putting on a free, virtual child safety event this weekend, focusing on child-luring.
Richmond Martial Arts, based out of Hammersmith Way in Ironwood, is hosting the event online on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for both parents and their children.
The school said that participants will learn the top 10 lures that a stranger will try to use to abduct a child while they are playing outside.
“We used to do these live events all the time for the last 14 years,” said Johnny Ahmed, owner operator of Richmond Martial Arts.
“We would rotate between bullying, kid safe and focus and concentration. We also visited local schools, too. We have switched to virtual now due to large groups not allowed anymore.
“By doing those, we are now impacting a large group of kids, because since Covid, we have expanded our programs all over North America so we can make a larger impact now on helping developing children from the inside out.”
Ahmed said he has even had teachers from outside of Richmond asking if they can use the recordings of their events for their own school districts.
