Need a new clothes washer? BC Hydro and the City of Richmond are offering $100-200 rebates for new, energy efficient machines. The initial offer runs May 1 to June 30. Another offer runs during October.
Last year the city issued 205 rebates worth $15,750. This year's costs will come from the city's toilet rebate program.
The washers can save about 60,000 litres of water each year as well as about 160 kWh of electricity (which alone will save $15 per year in BC Hydro costs)
Notably, there are $400 rebates available for specific Samsung machines.
