The City of Richmond will review and decide on adopting a new property tax rate bylaw for this year.

This is on the agenda for Monday's 7 p.m. city council meeting.

Richmond's annual property tax rates bylaw for 2023 will "generate the required revenue" from the approved tax increase set out in the 2023 operating budget.

Property owners in the city are looking at paying 5.89 per cent more in taxes in 2023 -- two per cent increase than in 2022.

City staff is recommending council to introduce the new bylaw at Monday's meeting.

Meanwhile, councillors will decide whether to approve a one-year pilot project to have resident-only parking on Alta Court, in the Azure Road area.

The recommendation from city staff came from multiple complaints from residents in the area who were opposed to a 330-unit rental building on Azure Drive.

Residents were concerned for more traffic and parked cars in the neighbourhood.

The City of Richmond is proposing a pedestrian and bike lane "park" on the south side of Lansdowne Shopping Centre.

The "linear park" is part of the plan to redevelop the mall, and more details will be discussed at the city's parks and recreation meeting on Tuesday.
