The fire was reported just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29 in the 8100 block of Lucas Road in central Richmond.

The residents of the split-level property were kept out of their home while the fire in the backyard was put out. They did, however, return within a few hours.

Richmond RCMP say the fire is suspicious and its serious crime unit has been interviewing the residents and neighbours in an attempt to locate possible witnesses.

No one was injured in the fire and police have no suspects at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212.
