The City of Richmond is looking into adding community gardens in the Hamilton and West Cambie neighbourhoods.

Residents in the Hamilton and West Cambie neighbourhoods will get a say in the new community gardens coming their way.

From now until Sunday, June 4, community members can fill in a 10-minute survey to help the City of Richmond identify suitable locations for community gardens in the two neighbourhoods based on their level of support, diverse values and needs.

The engagement period is part of the city’s process for implementing its citywide Community Garden Program for 2023, which will focus on Hamilton and West Cambie.

Through the program, the city has been partnering with Urban Bounty to support shared green spaces around the city.  Urban Bounty oversees the management of the gardens and helps provide soil and garden tools. The organization is also in charge of the wait list for new members.

Last year, three new community gardens with a total of 96 plots were built along the Railway Greenway, while Cook Community Garden was expanded by 40 new plots.
