The proposed budget for a field house at Hugh Boyd park is coming in at $19 million.
The field house at the park at No. 1 and Francis roads, adjacent to Hugh Boyd secondary, was approved in principle by city council in 2018 at which time its scope was expanded from 5,300 square feet to 10,000 square feet.
If approved by city council, the two-storey building will include multi-purpose rooms, change rooms, washrooms, storage space, a concession area and administrative space.
Included in the plan is a thousand-square-foot outdoor covered viewing area.
The current 970-square-foot field house, built in 1969, would be demolished after the new one is built.
Hugh Boyd Community Park is 41 acres in size and includes sports fields, pitch and putt, basketball, pickleball and tennis courts as well as Hugh Boyd secondary and the West Richmond Community Centre.
The proposed field house and its budget will be dealt with at city council’s committee meeting on July 2.
