The Seafair Peewee A2 hockey team held their annual “Fill Our Hockey Bags with Food” event in aid of the Richmond Food Bank.
The players spent a large chunk of a Saturday at Save On Foods (Ironwood and Terra Nova locations) encouraging shoppers to full up their hockey bags with food and monetary donations.
They raised an incredible $1,753 and collected 625 items of food in just four hours.
“These future leaders in the community felt proud in making a difference in the lives of the less fortunate,” said team manager Germaine Lee-Nelson. “A big thank you goes to Save On Foods managers for helping with the event.”
