Students at McNair secondary school were evacuated from thir classrooms around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning after a small fire broke out in one of the washrooms.
Principal Margaret Scarr said Richmond Fire Rescue attended the school after the alarm activated the sprinkler system in the vicinity of the washroom.
Several trucks flanked the school as police secured the property and one ambulance sat idle. By 12:30 p.m. no smoke could be seen and students were allowed back into the school by 1 p.m.
