A fire has shut down several businesses in East Richmond.
Early Tuesday morning, the fire ripped through a commercial unit on Maycrest Way, near No. 6 Road.
Four adjacent units were damaged by water and smoke.
Richmond Fire-Rescue received a report of the fire around 5 a.m. at the 1990s two-level commercial complex building on Maycrest Way.
5C Tutoring have posted a notice of their website that they are now closed due to the fire.
Trevor Northrup, Richmond Fire-Rescue assistant deputy chief, said an initial investigation found "a lot of junk and mess" in the unit caught on fire.
A structural engineer deemed the building unstable and firefighters were unable to enter the building.
"We are currently undergoing a selective deconstruction to the building in order to continue the investigation of the fire," Northrup said.
There were no injuries to staff or the public.
