Food trucks, beer, and live music will come to Richmond’s Lansdowne Centre this August when the Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival rolls into town.

The free event, titled Neighbourhood Community Block Party, was initially scheduled for last summer, until the pandemic caused its cancellation.

Residents, food truck operators and many other local small business owners are now “hungry to reunite,” according to Jason Faria, operator and president of the festival.

“In 2021, we all want to connect again and talk to each other. You might not be able to see the most flashing lights. You might not be able to see the tallest Ferris wheel at our event,” said Faria.

Instead, Richmondites will see a variety of food trucks and meet a group of local business owners who have been weathering the storm of the pandemic and trying hard to reconnect with the neighbourhood again, noted Faria.

The festival will take place Aug. 13 from 4 to 10 p.m., Aug. 14 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Aug. 15 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be a sprawling artisan market supported by BC Shop Local, dozens of food trucks at Lansdowne Centre and all-day live music.
