A free car seat safety clinic is being held in Richmond this month.
Richmond RCMP is working with Richmond Fire-Rescue, ICBC and BCAA to host a workshop for parents and caregivers on Saturday, Feb. 15 on how to properly install and use child car seats.
The event will take place at Brighouse Fire Hall No. 1, at 6960 Gilbert Rd., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Certified child passenger safety educators as well as RCMP officers and community volunteers will give personalized car seat audits.
These audits will make sure the car seats meet Canadian safety standards, are not expired and are correct for the child's age, weight and height.
Each audit session will be around 30 to 45 minutes.
Richmond parents and caregivers are encouraged to book early for a session by calling 604-207-4761 Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Car seat safety clinics are part of Richmond RCMP's Child Passenger Safety Program, which launched in 2022.
This initiative reflects Richmond RCMP’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our youngest community members,
said Cpl. Adriana O’Malley, media relations officer at Richmond RCMP.
Through collaboration with our partners, we aim to make road safety a priority for all families.
