There are many traditions that make Halloween a fun and spooky celebration, but the city is reminding Richmond residents that the use and possession of fireworks is illegal for the general public.
While some cities including Vancouver allow the use of fireworks on private property with a simple permit, according to Richmond Fire-Rescue and city bylaws, “a person must not purchase, sell, display for the purpose of sale, offer for sale, give, dispose of or distribute fireworks to any person” in Richmond. Bylaws also state that “a person must not possess, ignite, explode, set off, or detonate fireworks except as permitted under a display permit.”
