After a scorching weekend in the Lower Mainland, the sun is here to stay leading to a heat warning across coastal B.C.
Today in Richmond, Environment Canada forecasts temperatures will get as high as 25 C. The rest of the week is expected to be hot as well, with high temperatures currently forecasted between 22 C and 26 C.
According to Environment Canada, risks associated with the heat wave “are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.”
Signs of heat illness could include swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
Be sure to drink plenty of water, even before you feel thirsty. Stay cool by visiting air conditioned facilities such as Richmond’s community centres or libraries or refer to the city’s map of fountains and places to stay cool.
