Traffic leaving Richmond is heavily backed up at the moment between Highway 91 and Bridgeport Road due to multiple traffic incidents, including an ambulance on fire.
An ambulance had suffered a mechanical failure that led to a fire on Highway 91 near the 99, according to the BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS).
No patients were in the ambulance and the crew was able to exit safely. The fire was put out by the fire department and the crew is back to responding calls using a spare ambulance.
A collision also took place northbound on Knight Street just before Bridgeport Road and a stall was reported northbound near the midspan on Knight Street bridge.
Northbound traffic on Knight Street in Richmond is currently down to one lane.
