A series of family-friendly activities will be held around Richmond next week to promote kindness and anti-bullying.
Pink Shirt Day, an international annual anti-bullying initiative that began in Nova Scotia back in 2007, will take place next Wednesday, Feb. 28.
In honour of the initiative, Steveston Community Centre is holding two cookie decorating sessions for children ages six to 12 years old, while Cambie Community Centre is inviting community members to add to its new chalkboard wall with shoutouts to local resources.
City Centre Community Centre, on the other hand, is asking Richmondites to answer a prompt on its question wall and post a photo of themselves wearing a pink shirt and posing with the board for a chance to win a prize. The contest will run from Feb. 28 to 29 and community members can tag @citycentreccyouth to enter the contest.
Meanwhile, Richmond's four public libraries will have a special display featuring books about kindness and Richmond School District staff and students will be wearing pink and sharing resources.
Richmond Fire-Rescue's duty crews will also be wearing pink epaulettes and Richmond RCMP's community engagement team will be out and about to connect with local youth.
