International peace run stopping by Richmond next week

A torch relay team made up of members from six countries is travelling through Canada and U.S. to promote peace.

The world's largest torch relay for peace will pass by Richmond on Tuesday, June 25.

The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run's international team, made up of members from six countries, is travelling through Canada and U.S. for four months to promote peace and meet with local communities.

The team will be stopping by the Lingyen Mountain Temple at 10065 No. 5 Road at 12:15 p.m. before stopping by the Shaolin Temple at 11300 No. 5 Road at 1 p.m.

The Peace Run was founded in 1987 and more than six million people have participated in it since, including Pope Francis, Mother Teresa and presidents Nelson Mandela and Mikhail Gorbachev.
