Jail time given for weapons offences in Richmond

A man has been sentenced in Richmond Provincial Court to jail time for four weapons charges, including discharging a rifle.

On Nov. 21, Alexander Hernandez Molina, 45, was sentenced to 721 days for unlawfully discharging a firearm, 12 months for possessing a firearm without a licence or registration, 18 months for careless use or storage of a firearm and six months for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

According to court documents, Molina discharged a Bisley Small Arms Bushranger bolt-action rifle in a reckless manner.

Other charges include possession of a rifle without a licence or registration, storing or handling it “without reasonable precautions for the safety of other persons,” and possession of the rifle either for a dangerous purpose or to commit an offence.

The offences occurred in Richmond in August 2022.

All four sentences will be served concurrently.
