Preparations are underway in B.C. Supreme Court for the trial of two men facing drug trafficking and firearms charges in Richmond.
But it will be a year from when the case was moved from Richmond Provincial Court to B.C. Supreme Court to when the men, whose alleged offences date back to 2019, will go to trial.
Charges were first laid in August 2022 in Richmond Provincial Court.
Chun Yu Luk and Ya Bobo Chen are facing charges related to unlawfully possessing methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and MDMA for the purposes of trafficking back in 2020, as well as possessing a loaded prohibited firearm and taser without a licence.
Luk is also being charged with exporting and attempting to export methamphetamine from Canada in August and September 2019 respectively.
According to court records, a pre-trial conference for the case was held on Nov. 15 last year and the individuals are scheduled to return to court in June for another appearance.
A hearing for an application is set for Sept. 9 and jury selection is expected to take place on Dec. 12.
