More than 100 graduating students from KPU's Wilson School of Design will showcase their final projects and portfolios next week.

The "Watch Out!" showcase is a two-day event taking place on April 20 and 21. This is the first time students from all seven programs at the school are presenting their final works together and they are also helping out with planning, staging and marketing the event.

“Students have a unique opportunity to put their talents and creativity on display before embarking on rewarding careers in design,” said Andhra Goundrey, dean of the Wilson School of Design.

“Months of planning have gone into this event, and it’s wonderful to see so many students contributing. This is a collaboration across all our programs, and a celebration of our exceptional students and their exceptional work.”

The showcase will feature works from students enrolled in fashion and technology, fashion marketing, foundations in design, graphic design for marketing, interior design, product design and technical apparel design.

Projects will include graphic design student Priya Sahota's concept for a travelling exhibit and event on the Komagata Maru which reflects on the stories and impact of those aboard the ship; fashion and technology student Elle Good's line of bridal wear that aims to improve sustainability and practicality; and technical apparel design student Berenice Beau's line of protective clothing for female firefighters that challenges designs for male-centric professions.

The showcase at the Wilson School of Design in Richmond will be open to community and industry guests on April 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. and high school tours on April 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free and guests should register in advance.
