The Cowell Foundation has donated a total of $250,000 to the Richmond Hospital Foundation.
According to the Richmond Hospital Foundation, the donation will ensure that community members will receive the best care possible close to their homes.
Donations also play a vital role in helping the Richmond Hospital meet the community's health needs as the city’s population has grown rapidly over the years, reads the foundation’s release.
"We want to extend our support and gratitude to Richmond Hospital for all the great work being done by the physicians, health care professionals and staff during the pandemic," said Gary Cowell, whose family created the Cowell Foundation.
"They are true heroes in our lives, and we're happy to be in their corner."
Cowell opened his first car dealership in Richmond 50 years ago and operates Richmond’s Cowell Auto Group.
