Dear Editor,
Re: “Letters: Shut down ‘birthing factories’ in Richmond,” Online, June 18.
Thank you to Egon Frank for re-igniting the controversy of “birthing factories.”
I can't help but wonder where our Canadian citizens go to have their babies when Richmond Hospital is full taking care of the new little tourist Canadians?
As is well known, the hospital has the highest birth tourism rate in Canada.
When these new Canadians decide to come back to Canada to use our education system, our medical system and the sponsoring of family members, where does the money come from as they have not been contributing to our tax system?
Geez, I guess it is up to the Canadian taxpayers to supplement their needs. Now we also have to be concerned about paying out lawsuits?
I know this is a federal issue, so where do our MPs stand on this issue? This is a program that should be abolished as I'm pretty sure it is not a money maker for Canada!
