A man is currently on trial for allegedly committing a crime spree in Richmond back in 2020.
Taymour Aghtai is charged with sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, assault with a weapon, extortion, unlawful confinement and possession of a firearm.
These incidents are alleged to have taken place in Richmond on Sept. 5, 2020.
Aghtai is also known as the Lynn Valley Care Centre hoaxer, after he pretended to be a public health officer and warned that the care centre should be closed after a patient there died from COVID-19.
The trial is scheduled for nine days, with Tuesday being the sixth day. It’s expected to wrap up on Friday.
Aghtai remains in custody and he has chosen to be tried by a judge alone.
