After a long hiatus, the Maple Leaf is again flying proudly above the Richmond News office at No. 3 and Lansdowne roads.
The old flag had been torn last fall but advertising director Rob Akimow concluded it was best to wait until the weather turned to install a new flag.
When Akimow dragged his feet (despite his office being in front of the flag pole), reporter Graeme Wood, dismayed at the sight of an empty pole, stepped up and pushed News publisher Pierre Pelletier to either remove the pole for scrap metal or raise a new flag.
And so, Pelletier, in his infinite wisdom, has raised the iconic No. 3 Road flag, which welcomes Canada Line travellers into City Centre.
