Land-use contracts (LUC) in Richmond, B.C. will soon be extinguished by the City of Richmond, starting in late 2015. The contracts are provincially regulated and supersede city zoning bylaws. As such, larger than normal homes may be built on properties with the contracts. A common complaint is that the contracts, speckled throughout residential neighbourhoods, upset the design balance/consistency and character of neighbourhoods. The city must undergoe public hearings to terminate the LUC's.
