Metro Vancouver is in for a deluge of rain this weekend in what Environment Canada is calling yet another “atmospheric river.”
The federal forecaster issued a special weather statement the morning of Nov. 12 for the City of Vancouver Burnaby, New Westminster, the North Shore including West Vancouver and North Vancouver, Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Surrey, Langley, Richmond and Delta.
“A series of moisture laden systems associated with an atmospheric river from the Pacific will begin arriving Saturday evening and bring heavy rain to the South Coast,” Environment Canada wrote in the statement. “Meanwhile the freezing level will lift to over the mountain tops. Heavy rain in combination with the melting snow can result in high stream levels and local flooding.”
The forecast calls for 75 to 150 mm of rain to fall between the evening of Nov. 13 to the morning of Nov. 14.
