Update: Power back on for more than 2,000 Richmond residents struck by wind storm

Power has been out for the area for more than three hours.

Power outage in Richmond affected more than 2,000 residents.

A power outage in Richmond left 2,128 residents in the dark on Thursday morning.

The outage initially affected the area west of Savage Road, east of Citation Drive, south of Bridgeport Road and north of Steveston Highway, according to the BC Hydro outage map.

The outage map initially stated 3,831 customers were affected but later reduced the number to 2,128.

Power was out since 4:44 a.m. and came back on around 10 a.m.

According to BC Hydro, the outage was caused by the windstorm.

Earlier this morning, 306 BC Hydro customers south of Vulcan Way, north of Knight Street, west of Van Dyke Place and east of No. 5 road were also left without power from 3 to 6 a.m. The outage was caused by a tree down across BC Hydro's wires.
