Almost 800 roadside tickets were given out by police in February for traffic violations - and 20 drivers were arrested for drinking and driving.
A total of 782 tickets were given out by RCMP's Road Safety Unit for dangerous and unlawful driving behaviours.
Of these, 167 were for speeding and 64 for distracted driving.
Richmond RCMP are reminding drivers to be cautious at four high-volume collision intersections:
- No. 5 Road and Steveston Highway
- No. 3 Road and Westminster Highway
- No. 5 Road and Westminster Highway
- Nelson Road and Westminster Highway
"Our monthly statistics serve as a reminder of the collective effort required to achieve this goal," said Sgt. Eric Baskette, spokesperson for the Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit.
"This March, our focus on distracted driving enforcement has intensified. We encourage all drivers to reflect on their habits and make the necessary changes to ensure their safety and that of others."
