Update: Blundell Road reopened after Friday motorcycle crash

Richmond RCMP are investigating the rush hour accident

Police are investigating a motorcycle accident in Richmond city centre that took place during rush hour on Friday.

Blundell Road at Minoru Boulevard between Moffat and No. 3 roads was closed in both directions until just before 2 a.m. on Saturday morning.

The crash took place on Sept. 1 at approximately 4 p.m. A photo of the scene shows a silver motorcycle toppled over in the middle of the road with at least three police cruisers and one ambulance surrounding the area.

Community members were also seen standing by a person who was lying down on the road.

Adriana O'Malley, Richmond RCMP spokesperson, confirmed that the incident is currently being investigated.

According to the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), one person was sent to the hospital with "potentially life-threatening injuries" after two ambulances attended the scene.

Anyone who was in the area between 3:50 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. who either witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage is asked to contact Richmond RCMP and quote file number 2023-27770.
