Richmond go-kart venue levels up with multi-level race tracks

New restaurant and bar, axe-throwing, laser tag and more to come.

A Richmond go-karting venue is levelling up with new race tracks and additional entertainment options this fall.

Richmond Speeders, which temporarily closed for renovations last winter, is upgrading its 48,700-square-foot space.

The new facility will have two new light-up, multi-level go-kart tracks, a laser tag arena, axe-throwing and mini golf. They are aiming to re-open at the end of September.

"We're taking go-karting to the next level, literally," said Yosuke Carter, brand ambassador at Speeders.

"Instead of just a flat track, we're shifting towards a different type of karting experience."

Carter told the Richmond News these upgrades are part of Speeders' vision to make go-karting enjoyable for people of all ages and not just young adults.

"We want to make sure a large age range of the community can have fun racing," he said.

The new design at Richmond Speeders will allow children to race on one track while adults can compete on a separate track, all happening simultaneously.

For special events or bookings, the two tracks can be connected to form an extended race course, Carter added.

Aside from go-karting, Richmond Speeders is adding a restaurant and bar as well as social games such as darts.

"We're looking at expanding this 'eat-ertainment' environment," said Carter.

"These new additions incorporate a lot more social activities ... for people to just come, whether for a date night or just to hang out and relax a little bit."

Speeders has locations in Calgary and Edmonton as well with a new Chinook Calgary location coming soon.

Although Richmond Speeders is not accepting bookings until the opening date is confirmed, they are encouraging everyone to check their website for updates.
