Large parts of Richmond are underwater this afternoon with multiple road closures and traffic re-direction in place.

The City of Richmond is asking that people avoid the areas listed below.

Highway 99 remains closed in both directions at Westminster Highway, also due to flooding. The Highway 99 on-ramp from Highway 91 is also closed.

Roads closed are:

NB Williams and No. 5 Road;
SB No. 5 Road & Blundell;
EB King Road at No. 5 Road. Traffic control is in place. Local traffic only.

City crews are also currently working with Metro Vancouver to address what is understood to be a sinkhole causing flooding at Gilbert and Blundell roads.

Meanwhile, Highway 99 is still closed in both directions at Westminster Highway, again due to flooding. Traffic is being re-routed onto Westminster Highway.
