New bursary from Wolseley Canada aims to help Indigenous students in their post-secondary studies

Indigenous students in Richmond and across Canada can now apply for a new bursary to help fund for their post-secondary education.

The Government of Canada is matching Ontario-based Wolseley Canada’s donation of $25,000, for a total of $50,000 in bursaries, to help support Indigenous students in Canada with their post-secondary studies.

Wolseley Canada partnered with Indspire, a national Indigenous registered charity in Canada, to help Indigenous students “achieve their highest potential.”

The Wolseley Canada Indigenous Bursary, which is part of Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures program, is for individual First Nation, Inuit and Metis students enrolled in full and part-time studies in college, university, skilled trades, apprenticeships and technology programs.

“Today is an important day for all Canadians to reflect on history and consider how to make positive changes,” said Chris Choquette, vice president of Western Canada of Wolseley Canada.

Choquette added that the funding aims to support and advance Indigenous achievements in Canada.

Indigenous students can apply online for the bursary for the September 2021 to August 2022 academic year.
